Strengthening our relationship with Denpasar City

Today the City of Perth formalised its relationship with Denpasar City by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) building on a Letter of Intent signed in 2018.

During a ceremony at Council House, Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas and Michelle Reynolds, CEO, signed the official MOU connecting the two cities in a collaboration to mutually benefit our creative and digital economies.

Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, the Mayor of Denpasar, Ida Bagus Rai Mantra could not be in physical attendance for the MOU signing and instead held a ceremony earlier today in Denpasar City for local representatives and stakeholders.

This cooperation is a new and innovative international partnership, the first of its kind for the City of Perth.

Although the City of Perth has been active in international engagement since the signing of the City’s first Sister City relationship in 1974, the MOU represents a new method of engagement. This MOU is an industry specific and time-specified agreement with a city outside of the bounds of Perth’s 11 existing Sister City or Friendship City relationships.

The intent of the MOU is to:

  • Establish connections and relationships between the digital and creative ecosystems in each city
  • Help facilitate exchange program.
