There has never been a better time to take on a new apprentice or trainee with once-in-a-lifetime subsidies available from the Marshall and Morrison Governments that have dramatically slashed training and employment cost for business.
The State and Federal Governments have cash of up to $29,000 on the table to encourage South Australian businesses to employ an apprentice or trainee today.
“With the South Australia economy roaring back to life and the release of a vaccine for COVID-19 likely early next year, now is the time for businesses look at their future workforce needs,” said Minister for Innovation and Skills David Pisoni.
“There has never been a better time to invest in the future of your business and give a young person the opportunity of a career in construction, health care or ICT.
“The Marshall Government’s investment of an additional $280 million skills and training is making South Australia a centre of excellence in skills development.
“Ensuring South Australia has the skilled workforce necessary to drive the transformation of our economy is a fundamental component of the Marshall Government economic policies.
“Initiatives range from support with wages, assistance to take on a new employee and expanded low fee training to help grow business in South Australia.
“The Federal Government subsidies are in place until September 30 next year and based on a sliding scale so the sooner the decision is made to take on an apprentice or trainee the greater the level of subsidy.
“Tailored training programs for individual business through a co-designed project to meet their needs are also available.
“The State Government is also establishing a new South Australian Skills Commission to lead workforce development, promote apprenticeships, traineeships and micro-credentials and promote pathways between secondary school, vocational education and training and lifelong learning.
“The new Skills Commission will provide a single-entry point for South Australians using the training system and will raise the profile of skills and workforce development in line with national reforms.”
