Applications for round two of the City of Ballarat’s Tourism Events Grant Program are now open.
Following round one, events were awarded funding and will drive visitation, support local businesses and showcase Ballarat to new audiences.
Some of the successful recipients from round 1 were:
- 67th Australian National Square Dance Convention – a social dance event held in a different location in Australia each year, bringing together dancers and enthusiasts to celebrate.
- Ballarat Girls Cup – the largest all-female football tournament drawing players from under-7 to open age women, bringing players, families and supporters to the region.
- Eureka Cup – a three-day junior and youth football tournament held at the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility attracting elite domestic and international players.
- Victorian Masters Baseball Carnival – a statewide tournament attracting masters-age players and supporters across three days.
City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Tracey Hargreaves said the funded events highlighted the important role tourism events play in strengthening Ballarat’s visitor economy.
“These events will attract visitors from across Victoria and beyond, supporting local accommodation providers, hospitality venues and businesses while showcasing Ballarat as a vibrant destination for major events,” she said.
“The Tourism Events Grant Program continues to support events that bring people to Ballarat, create memorable experiences and contribute to our city’s reputation as a leading regional tourism destination.”
The City of Ballarat is now inviting organisers to apply for the next round of the Tourism Events Grant Program, which provides funding support to events that generate overnight visitation and economic activity for the municipality.
“We are looking for events that will attract visitors, encourage people to stay longer and experience everything Ballarat has to offer,” Cr Hargreaves said.
“The calibre of these recent recipients demonstrates the value of investing in events that deliver economic and community benefits, and we look forward to supporting the next generation of events through the program.”
Applications for the next round of the Tourism Events Grant Program are now open and will close on 31 October.
A new grant stream for Business Events is now available, allowing corporate applications to have their own funding stream, all year long.
