The McGowan Government has today launched a ‘Summer Vax Drive’ campaign – a three-week targeted initiative to help Western Australia reach its 90 per cent vaccination target.
Off the back of the successful ‘Super Vax Weekend’, the Summer Vax Drive will give Western Australians the opportunity to ‘roll up’ and protect themselves, loved ones and their community at more convenient vaccination clinics and special events.
These include new pop-up clinics to open in a select number of Woolworths and Aldi supermarkets across metropolitan and regional stores on December 2-5.
These convenient opportunities will give shoppers the advantage of getting vaccinated whilst collecting their weekly groceries.
Western Australians can also bowl over their vaccination at the Big Bash League (BBL) cricket matches at Optus Stadium during November and December.
Starting with the Women’s BBL Final this Saturday November 27 and then at the men’s match on Wednesday, December 8 fans and staff will have access to a designated pop-up clinic.
The COVID-19 Vaccine Community Funding Program has been established to facilitate the uptake of vaccinations in priority groups.
These groups include Aboriginal communities, those living with disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, homeless and people sleeping rough, those suffering mental health problems and those who may be at greater risk of COVID-19.
Administered by the Vaccine Commander, $5,000 grants are available to incorporated not for profit organisations, Aboriginal corporations and local government authorities. Funding is to assist in local education, programs, venue hire, training and transport and other vaccine promotional initiatives. The program is being finalised with more details to be released soon.
Additionally, the ‘Keeping Culture Safe and Strong: Vaccination Focus’ continues to run across the State to drive up the vaccination rates of Aboriginal communities.
WA Health State COVID-19 vaccination clinics continue to operate with no appointment necessary at more than 100 locations across WA. Western Australians can also get vaccinated at GPs, pharmacies, Aboriginal Medical Services and GP respiratory clinics, which are managed by the Commonwealth.

“Western Australians have done a great job so far, but we need to keep that momentum going so we can reach our 90 per cent double dose target.
“Come late January/early February our border controls will ease further, and it is so important we’re vaccinated and protected from COVID-19.
“Our border controls have kept us safe, but they won’t be there for much longer.
“The support of these venues allows us to further provide opportunities to Western Australians to get vaccinated. I want to thank these organisations and their staff for getting involved and supporting this important initiative.
“Vaccinations are readily available now. Don’t pass it up. Don’t leave it until it’s too late.
“The Summer Vax Drive is the best opportunity for anyone not vaccinated to simply walk straight in and get vaccinated.”

“Vaccination is the best defence we have against this deadly virus – it is the best protection against serious illness, hospitalisation and death.
“Remember COVID-19 is coming. We can’t stop it, but we can prepare for it. Western Australians need to get vaccinated and build our immunity before it gets here.
“Your best defence against COVID-19 is double vaccination with the greatest immunity being reached two weeks after your second dose, so don’t leave it until it’s too late.
“Please roll up for WA and get vaccinated – for yourself, your family and your community.”

“This intensive effort to vaccinate as many people as possible is required now to ensure Western Australia is both protected and prepared for the inevitable arrival of COVID-19.
“For those Western Australians still yet to be vaccinated, there needs to be a greater sense of urgency and intent to be vaccinated.
“This is all about ease and convenience. Not only can you get your vaccine at more than a hundred clinics across the State but your local GP, pharmacy and now – grocery store. There are no more excuses.
“I would urge anyone who has not been vaccinated to get vaccinated sooner rather than later and enjoy the Summer ahead knowing you’ve protected yourself and your loved ones.”
