Support available for local community groups

Local community groups are encouraged to apply for assistance under Kingston City’s 2022-23 Annual Grants round.

Last year social welfare groups, schools, families and children’s services, art groups and sporting clubs across Kingston shared in nearly $1.6 million to continue their exceptional work thanks to the community grants program, and applications are again being invited from groups seeking financial support.

Kingston Mayor Steve Staikos said Council is extremely proud to support the many local groups providing high-quality and important services that help make Kingston such a wonderful place to live.

“Our grants program was established to enable partnerships between Council and our community to address needs, support initiatives that strengthen community participation, development and inclusion and foster support,” Cr Staikos said.

“These grants give local community groups a valuable boost to continue their good work and the program is also an equitable way for our community to seek funding assistance from Council.”

Community groups and organisations must meet following eligibility criteria:

  • be not-for-profit and managed by a volunteer board/committee of management who have complied with all Consumer Affairs Victoria obligations;
  • be incorporated or auspiced by another incorporated organisation that will accept legal and financial responsibility for the project/activity;
  • be physically located within the City of Kingston municipal boundaries. Consideration may be given to other groups/organisations where 50% or more of their membership comprises Kingston residents, or where direct and significant benefit to Kingston residents can be demonstrated.

Applications open at 9.00am on Monday 31 January 2022 and close at midnight on Thursday 31 March 2022.
