The Territory Labor Government is supporting the health and wellbeing of men through the first ever Men’s Places Grants.

The Northern Territory Men’s Places Grants Program provides more than $95,000 to support 10 programs and activities across the Territory. It is part of the NT Gender Equality Action Plan 2022-25 which has a key focus on improving the lives of Territory men.

The 2023 Men’s Places program and activities range from men’s groups and camps, healing and parenting programs, skills training and fitness, and include:

Kings Narrative to deliver Kings Narrative Barber Training Pilot Program in Alice Springs

Jason Lord to support Big Boys Boxing for Better Health in Alice Springs

Desert Knowledge Australia to establish a permanent Men’s Camp at the Desert Knowledge Precinct in Mparntwe/Alice Springs for Elders to share knowledge and cultural leadership

Children’s Ground to support the My Father, My Child program aimed at young fathers, grandfathers and First Nations men in Central Australia

David Spry to deliver the Stronger Voices Program in Belyuen, Darwin, Katherine, Litchfield, West Daly, Victoria Daly and Wagait regions

Relationships Australia NT to deliver the Men’s Healing Program Recover from Trauma in the Darwin area

J.R Bonson and I Shreiner to support a community led project, Mamulbak Men’s Group in the Daly River region

Jawoyn Association Aboriginal Corporation to develop the community led Mungguy Man’s Group Camp on Country in the Katherine region

West Arnhem Regional Council to deliver a peer support and mentoring program Red Dust Healing project, in Minjilang (Croker Island) and Warruwi (South Goulburn Island); and

Wagait Shire Council for the Wagait Men’s Program.

The next Men’s Places Grant round opens on International Men’s Day, Saturday 19 November 2023.
