Supporting Women to Succeed Grant Program opens

Jane Howlett,Minister for Women

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is creating a more inclusive Tasmania that empowers and enables women and girls to fully participate in our economic, social, political and community life.

I’m delighted, as part of our first 100 Day Plan, to launch our $2 million Supporting Women to Succeed Grant Program, which opens today.

The Grant Program will fund initiatives that support women’s employment right across our economy, with a focus on sectors that are traditionally male-dominated.

Initiatives funded under the Grant Program will address barriers to employment and participation for women, helping to attract more women into non-traditional fields, increasing recruitment, supporting retention, and promoting leadership pathways for career progression.

The Grant Program will offer grants of between $10,000 and $200,000 to projects targeted at attracting, retaining and promoting leadership opportunities for women in non-traditional fields.

This initiative is funded through the 2020-21 State Budget allocation of $2.5 million over two years to develop a statewide program that supports women to participate more broadly across our economy. It builds on our strong record of improving opportunities for women and girls in Tasmania, and comes as part of a detailed package of commitments we will be rolling out in this term of government.

This program has been informed by the recommendations of the PESRAC report, which focused on industry programs and traineeship pipelines.

Applications close on 25 July 2021.
