The Queensland Employer Support Awards, announced in Brisbane on August 10, recognised businesses and organisations that enable workers to also serve their country.
Hosted by Major General Douglas Laidlaw, Head Joint Support Services Division, and attended by senior Queensland ADF officials and prominent members of the Brisbane business community, the event recognised employers for their continued support to Australian Defence Force reservists.
Major General Laidlaw said the awards showcased employers that demonstrate outstanding support to their staff who provide ADF service.
“Reservists display exemplary qualities that are crucial to Defence capability. They make up a large portion of our workforce and are key to Defence achieving its mission,” Major General Laidlaw said.
“They are enabled through our civilian employers who provide flexibility, generosity, training and development. Reservists rely on their employers to be supportive so they can attend their reserve service and work effectively.
“I commend all the nominated organisations and congratulate the award-winning organisations.”
Winners from the state awards will now be considered for the national awards, to be held in Sydney in November.
