Taking Tasmania’s gamers to Gamescom

Jeremy Rockliff, Premier

Tasmania is set to showcase its game development technology and talent at Gamescom, one of the world’s largest video gaming industry events.

Hobart-based Secret Lab and Launceston-based Smash Attack Studios will have the opportunity to find new markets and create new global buyer connections while demonstrating their innovative game development talents.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government has partnered with the Interactive Games and Entertainment Association (IGEA) to make this possible, who are leading the development of the ‘Australia’ themed pavilion in collaboration with Austrade and several Australian states.

Gamescom 2022 will run from August 24 to 28 in Cologne, Germany, and will welcome more than 400,000 industry and consumer attendees while being streamed online worldwide.

Increasing the diversity of Tasmania’s exports by assisting emerging industries in Tasmania is key to building a resilient and robust economy.

Supporting export initiatives such as this provides an excellent opportunity to showcase Tasmanian innovation and excellence on the global stage and complements our commitment to building Tasmania’s reputation as a leader in the science and technology sector.
