Wyndham City is establishing a Business Association and Town Team as part of the Tarneit Revitalisation Program that will help make Tarneit a more resilient, connected community and better place to live, visit and do business.
Tarneit is one of eight metropolitan suburbs selected as part of the State Government-funded Suburban Revitalisation Program. The program will help strengthen the liveability of Tarneit by driving economic opportunities and job growth.
Wyndham City Mayor Cr Peter Maynard said: “Tarneit’s residents are a large part of what makes the suburb so special-that’s why we’re asking them to join the Tarneit Business Association or Tarneit Town Team. They will help the suburb thrive for many years to come.”
The Tarneit Business Association welcomes any business or home-based business registered in or operating in the suburb of Tarneit to participate in the activities of the Association.
“Wyndham recognises the very valuable and important role which Business Association members will play in the future prosperity of Tarneit, providing local employment and local access to essential goods, services and facilities,” Cr Peter Maynard said.
The Tarneit Town Team will aim to connect and improve communities, tackle social problems and assist local organisations with local projects and initiatives that build social capital and strengthen local economy.
Wyndham City has partnered with CoLocal to identify community leaders, not-for-profit groups and individuals who may be interested to be a part of the Tarneit Town Team.
To be an eligible Town Team member, you will be a positive and proactive community group that provides support to businesses, landowners, and residents.
“If you know a business or community group in Tarneit who would be a valuable member of the Business Association or Town Team, give them a call and let them know. We’d be lucky to have their experience and influence that will help revitalise Tarneit,” Cr Maynard said.
The Tarneit Business Association and Town Team is scheduled to be in operation by April 2022.
