Police from the Northern District’s Taskforce Viper have recovered more than $27,000 worth of stolen property and charged a 35-year-old Mayfield man in relation to the thefts.
Taskforce members conducted a search in the Northern Suburbs on Monday, locating a significant amount of property.
The man was charged with multiple offences including Burglary, Stealing, and Possession of Stolen Property, and has since appeared in the Launceston Magistrates Court.
Police have identified the majority of owners, and returned the stolen property.
Detective Acting Inspector Aleena Crack said since late December when Taskforce Viper was re-established, 33 people had been charged with more than 182 separate offences.
“This taskforce is designed to target known recidivist offenders, and the proactive work of our taskforce members has resulted in a significant number of charges,” she said.
“We know recidivist offenders may be responsible for multiple offences, and our aim is to reduce that high volume offending.
“We will continue to do everything we can to keep the community safe and prevent and detect crime, but we also need the community’s help.
