Tasmania leading nation in business confidence

Jeremy Rockliff, Premier

The November 2023 NAB Monthly Business Survey released yesterday shows that the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s plan for Tasmania is working, as Tasmania leads the nation in business confidence and business conditions.

Premier, Jeremy Rockliff, said this is a testament to the partnership between business and government over the past nine years.

“It is pleasing to see that despite national economic headwinds, our Liberal Government has created the conditions Tasmanian businesses need to succeed,” Premier Rockliff said.

“We will always back in business to lead the economic development opportunities Tasmanians need.

“Our Government has worked with businesses to create over 50,000 more jobs since we took office and we know how important these employment opportunities are to Tasmanians.

“Tasmania was a leader of the economic recovery out of COVID-19 and has managed to grow again despite the strong national headwinds.

“We know that creating employment opportunities is crucial to combat these headwinds.”

Treasurer, Michael Ferguson, welcomed the report on the back of recent State Final Demand (SFD) and Gross State Product (GSP) data released in recent weeks.

“We know that economic development comes from government working hand in glove with business, and we will continue to deliver the conditions Tasmanian businesses need,” Treasurer Ferguson said.

“Recent SFD data showed the Tasmanian economy is one of the nation’s leaders, and these confidence and conditions figures back that in.

“While Labor continues to talk Tasmania down, this Liberal Government will continue to deliver the jobs and economic development our state needs.

“Over the past nine years, our Government has demonstrated that our long-term plan delivers a strong economy and we will continue delivering what matters to Tasmanians.”
