Tasmania sweeps tourism awards

Peter Gutwein,Premier & Minister for Tourism

When it comes to tourism, Tasmania is world class and last night’s tourism awards were a spectacular recognition of our success.

I was very proud to be with our tourism operators at this year’s Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, with Tasmania taking home an extraordinary 17 awards out of the 25 categories. That’s more medals than any other state or territory.

Recognised were a suite of world class experiences, businesses and events, which demonstrate the breadth and depth of our incredible offerings as a state.

For years Tasmania has quietly pursued the extraordinary, and we have definitely set ourselves apart from the crowd.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is the strongest supporter of our tourism industry, which injects $2.5 billion into our economy and supports more than 42,000 local jobs.

On behalf of the Tasmanian Government I congratulate all the entrants and medallists at this year’s awards.
