Tasmania to host Red Bull Hardline’s Australian debut

Nic Street, Minister for Stadia and Events

Tasmania is gearing up to host the Australian debut of the Red Bull Hardline Mountain Bike Series on Sunday, 25 February 2024 at Maydena Bike Park in the State’s south.

The Rockliff Liberal Government today announced a $1.4 million partnership with Red Bull that will bring 30 of the world’s best male and female mountain bike riders to compete at the Red Bull Hardline Tasmania event between 2024 and 2026.

Minister for Stadia and Events, Nic Street, said the event would bring more than 6,000 visitors to the State across the three-year period and broadcast Tasmania to the globe.

“The Red Bull Hardline series is renowned globally for being the ultimate test of downhill mountain biking prowess, featuring jaw-dropping jumps, challenging drops, and incredibly technical terrain,” Minister Street said.

“We know that Maydena has some of the best and most extreme downhill mountain biking on earth and now the world’s foremost mountain biking competition is recognising this as well.

“With thousands of spectators and the best riders in the world at the Maydena Bike Park in February, and millions more watching around the globe, the best of Tasmania will be beamed to people worldwide.

“This will boost our economy and elevate our local tourism and hospitality businesses both when the events take place and when it inspires more people to visit.

“With more than 400 kilometres of trails that thread through spectacular landscapes and entire towns dedicated to the adrenaline-fuelled sport, Tasmania has rightly earned its standing as Australia’s mountain biking capital.

“Hosting the Red Bull Hardline Series is set to be another notch in this well-deserved reputation.”
