Moreland Crime Investigation Unit detectives are hoping to identify two men after a taxi driver was robbed and assaulted in Fawkner earlier this month.
Police have been told a taxi driver picked up two men from a Greenvale address about 5pm on Monday 13 January.
The men gave the driver their mobile phone as they had no cash and were taken to Jukes Road in Fawkner when an altercation has occurred.
The offenders refused to pay and took their phone back before assaulting the male driver.
The offenders, both described to be aged in their 20s then ran from the scene.
Investigators have released images of two men that may be able to assist with their enquiries.
