Teen arrested after pursuit through south-eastern suburbs and attempted carjacking

A teenager has been arrested after a pursuit in an allegedly stolen vehicle this morning.

Police spotted an Audi driving erratically on Dingley Bypass in Clarinda about 1.05am.

It is alleged the car was one of two vehicles stolen in an aggravated burglary at a property on Whyte Street in Brighton earlier this morning.

With assistance from the Air Wing, the car was followed through Kingston and the south-eastern suburbs.

Stop sticks were successfully deployed and the Audi came to a stop at the intersection of Thompsons Road and McCormicks Road in Carrum Downs.

The male driver allegedly got out of the car, then threatened a driver in another vehicle with a weapon.

There were no injuries and police arrested the boy at the scene.

The 17-year-old is assisting police with their enquiries.

The Audi has been recovered by police.

The second vehicle, a grey Porsche, remains outstanding and investigations are ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam/CCTV footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.auExternal Link.
