Teen charged after investigation into multiple property offences – Operation Regional Mongoose

A teen will face court today following an investigation into multiple break and enters and a pursuit in the state’s western region.

Officers attached to Central West and Chifley Police District commenced an investigation following a pursuit and reports of multiple break and enters in Orange, Molong, Cowra, Blayney, Lucknow, Bathurst and Kelso between Thursday 31 August 2023 and Friday 15 September 2023.

Following extensive inquiries, about 12.30pm yesterday (Thursday 13 October 2023), police attended a home in Orange and arrested a 15-year-old boy.

He was taken to Orange Police Station and charged with:

  • Aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal (two counts)
  • Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
  • Never licensed person drive vehicle on road and,
  • Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

Two outstanding warrants were also executed for property and traffic-related offences.

The teen was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Friday 13 October 2023).

Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime committed predominately by young offenders. Inquiries are continuing.
