Teenage boy charged after officer’s nose broken at Gunnedah, NSW

A teenage boy has been charged after allegedly breaking an officer’s nose during the search for a wanted man in the state’s north-east today.

About 11am this morning (Tuesday 13 August 2019), officers attached to Western Operations High Risk Domestic Violence Offender Team attended a home on Edward Street at Gunnedah to make inquiries about a wanted person.

Upon entering the home, it is alleged a 16-year-old boy, pushed an officer in the back.

Officers deployed OC spray to subdue the boy who was arrested.

When assisted to his feet, it is alleged the boy headbutted the officer to the face.

The officer attended Gunnedah Hospital for treatment to a broken nose.

The boy was taken to Gunnedah Police Station where he was charged with resist arrest, assault police officer in the execution of duty causing actual bodily harm, and assault officer in the execution of duty.

He was bail refused to appear at a Children’s Court today (Tuesday 13 August 2019).
