Tell Us What Your Ideal City and Suburbs Look Like

City of Darwin is calling on the community to tell them what their ideal city and suburbs look like.

An extensive community consultation starts today, seeking opinions about what makes our City and suburbs unique, vibrant, welcoming and enjoyable and what they want for the future.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said “We want to hear from the Darwin community about what is important to them; what they love and want to see in our city and suburbs.”

“We want as many people as possible to participate in the survey, residents, local workers, students and visitors. Tell us what you care about and value. This information will help us plan great spaces for everyone to enjoy now and in the future.”

In June Council adopted the 2019/20 municipal plan and budget, incorporating a new strategic focus and emphasis on creating a cool, clean and green, vibrant and creative city that is safe, liveable and healthy and has infrastructure that is best practice and sustainable.

The results of the survey and the new strategic focus will underpin decisions City of Darwin make to ensure Darwin and its suburbs are places that provide the physical, social and cultural attributes the community wants.

“Input from the community will help us better understand what people care about and will assist us in planning for the future,” concluded Lord Mayor Vatskalis.

Place Score, an Australian research company, will be conducting the research for City of Darwin.Face-to-face interviews will be conducted in the City Centre, Mindil Beach and Parap Markets and the Royal Darwin Show.

Online feedback can be made from 1 August via: https://www.darwin.nt.gov.au/placescore

By completing the survey, participants will have the opportunity to win one of five $100 gift vouchers. The survey closes at midnight on 1 September 2019.
