A bold new future awaits Campbelltown Arts Centre, with the Centre set to temporarily relocate to a new home in Campbelltown’s City Centre ahead of a significant redevelopment that will enhance its role as one of Western Sydney’s premier cultural destinations.
From April 2027, Campbelltown Arts Centre will temporarily relocate its operations to the Ground Floor, Campbelltown Library in Queen Street, Campbelltown. The move will follow the temporary closure of the current site in Art Gallery Road in March 2027 to make way for a major redevelopment that will transform the Centre for future generations.
The temporary site will enable Campbelltown Arts Centre to continue delivering a vibrant program of exhibitions, workshops and events both onsite and across the Campbelltown LGA.
Supported by a network of satellite venues, including Council’s community centres, the Centre will work with artists, local groups and organisations to bring arts and cultural experiences directly to communities throughout the region.
“The temporary relocation of Campbelltown Arts Centre represents an important milestone in the delivery of one of the most significant cultural investments in our city’s history,” said Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Darcy Lound.
“This redevelopment will create a world-class cultural destination that will inspire creativity, attract visitors, support artists and provide greater opportunities for our community to engage with arts and culture for generations to come.”
“The temporary site will ensure our programs continue, allowing us to keep delivering the arts and cultural experiences that are such an important part of our community while construction is underway,”
“We’re excited to see this transformational project progress and look forward to welcoming the community back to a larger, more accessible and contemporary Campbelltown Arts Centre when redevelopment is completed in 2029,” he said.
The $84.6million development will see the delivery of a striking new theatre space, vibrant new gallery spaces, versatile function facilities, additional workshop spaces, artist studios, a larger café and the reorientation of the entry to Art Gallery Road.
Construction for this project is scheduled to commence in April 2027 and is estimated to be completed in 2029.
