Tenders called for next stage of Mersey Community Hospital redevelopment

Joan Rylah,Liberal Member for Braddon

Tenders are being called for the next stage of the Mersey Community Hospital redevelopment.

The tender, which opens today, is for the design and subsequent project management for outpatient clinics and operating theatres.

This will include an additional endoscopy unit and fully redeveloped day procedure unit.

Work will also see the expansion of recovery and theatre spaces, along with expanded outpatient clinics.

The project is part of the $35 million redevelopment of the MCH, which the Hodgman Liberal Government committed to in the last election.

As part of the redevelopment, our 2019-20 State Budget includes $31.6 million to complete the works, and $4 million for the brand new services that will be delivered following the completion of the redevelopment program.

Under the broader MCH master plan, it will see the creation of modern and efficient clinical spaces in a range of crucial areas, all designed to provide enhanced patient care and better health outcomes.

The Mersey is an important hospital not just for the people of the North-West, but for the broader Tasmanian Health Service.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to building better health infrastructure to benefit all Tasmanians, no matter where they live. Better facilities, like this project will not only be good for patients, but will also provide high quality working facilities for our dedicated medical professionals.
