A tennis coach will appear in court today following an investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of a girl he was coaching.
Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a 12-year-old girl had been sexually abused on several occasions by a man known to her.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 71-year-old man at a reserve at Lindfield about 1.15pm yesterday (Wednesday 11 December 2019).
The man was taken to Chatswood Police Station and charged with 11 counts of intentionally sexually touch child between 10 and 16 years, and seven counts of intentionally do sexual act with child between 10 and 16 years.
Police will allege in court that the man sexually abused the girl at locations across NSW, including while travelling for tennis tournaments between July and December this year.
He has been refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court later today (Thursday 12 December 2019).
Investigations are continuing.
