Territory Hosts Digital And Data Ministers

NT Government

Today Digital Ministers from the federal government and every state and Territory are meeting in Darwin for the first time to discuss digital and data connectivity challenges and solutions.

The Northern Territory faces unique digital challenges through the vast distances and remote locations of communities.

The Northern Territory Labor Government has used the opportunity of this meeting to illustrate its unique approach to centralised corporate services for the day-to-day operations of the public service, an approach that is recognised nationally as a case study in how to do this work.

The central service model allows other agencies to focus on the delivery of core business, as the NT Government’s Department of Corporate and Digital Development delivers key enabling services.

As part of promoting excellence of digital services to the public employment sector, an internal strategic planning roadmap, the Enterprise Corporate Roadmap 2024-2027, has been launched.

The roadmap will guide and inform future service design and improvement of services provided to agencies for the next three years.

The Roadmap builds on ongoing Corporate Services reform to continue the Northern Territory Government’s efforts to significantly improve efficiency across government through centralisation of corporate support functions across agencies.

Attributable to Minister for Corporate and Digital Development Selena Uibo:

“Today I am welcoming my Digital Ministers colleagues and showcasing the excellence in corporate digital services across government.

“The Northern Territory has a unique centralised way of delivering corporate support functions across agencies to achieve improved scale and standardisation and streamlined processes.

“Centralisation at this scale is a first for Australian governments, with the Territory the only jurisdiction to bring together the full range and value chain of corporate services from transactional to strategic support.”
