Testing clinics must be adequately resourced over summer

An increase in demand for COVID-19 testing clinics now borders are open must be addressed by the government.

Shadow Health Minister Anita Dow said with more and more exposure sites being added daily the necessity for testing has become incredibly important.

“Maintaining high levels of testing is an essential way we can keep on top of COVID in our state and keep our community safe,” Ms Dow said.

“It is up to the government to ensure our clinics are properly resourced and located.

“Consideration may need to be given to making more testing sites available across the state outside of city centres and an extension of opening hours could be one way to assist with long waiting times and increased demand.

“Easy access to testing is essential to stopping the spread and that is why the government must be doing all they can to resource the testing clinics.

“We are at a crucial time in our fight against the pandemic, people need to feel like they can access a test when they need to and not feel hesitant due to long lines and under resourcing.”
