Theft from car in Footscray

Police are investigating the theft of property from a parked car in Footscray from last week.

It’s believed a male and female approached a black 2023 MG sedan that was parked on Barkly Street at 4pm on 23 March.

A claw hammer was used to smash a hole in the front passenger window.

The female reached in and attempted to open the door but was unable to.

The male used the hammer again and completely smashed the window out then handed the hammer to the female.

The male jumped into the front of the car and began removing items, handing them to the female.

Both then walked east along Barkly Street.

The male is described as approximately 30-years-old with red hair and beard.

He was wearing a blue Tommy Hilfiger hoodie, blue Tommy Hilfiger tracksuit pants, Nike basketball shoes and a black peaked cap.

The female is described as approximately 30-years-old with brown hair and red highlights.

She was wearing a black hoodie with unknown motif on the back and black activewear.

Investigators have released images and CCTV in the hope someone may have information about the theft.
