In a joint SAPOL and SA Water investigation a number of properties in Birdwood, Gumeracha and Mt Torrens were searched on 25 February 2020 regarding an investigation into theft of water from the Mannum to Adelaide pipeline.
This has resulted in police arresting a 65-year-old man from Birdwood for theft. It will be alleged water stolen from the pipeline was used to supplement the dam that irrigated a vineyard.
This investigation is ongoing and the man has been bailed to appear in the Mount Barker Magistrates Court at 10am Friday 27 March.
