Detectives have arrested a third man over his alleged role in two home invasions, a high-speed crash, and two carjackings in Sydney’s south west earlier this month.
Police will allege in court four men, armed with firearms and poles, forced entry to a Fairfield home at 7am on Saturday 9 March 2019 and a Bonnyrigg home at 8.15am the same day, before assaulting the occupants.
Shortly after, a white Mercedes crashed into another car on the M5 at Moorebank and caught alight.
Four men got out of the car, with two fleeing on foot.
The other pair allegedly carjacked a Nissan Navara 4WD at gunpoint.
The Nissan was later located at a Moorebank service station after a second vehicle – a yellow Holden Commodore – was carjacked.
Following an extensive search by police, with the assistance of PolAir and the Dog Unit, two men – aged 28 and 39 – were arrested at Prestons. They were later charged and remain before the courts.
The State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took carriage of the investigation and established Strike Force Linoleum to investigate the incidents.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant and arrested a 26-year-old man at a Fairfield home about 6.30am today (Wednesday 27 March 2019).
He was taken to Fairfield Police Station, where he is assisting police with their inquiries.
Investigations under Strike Force Linoleum are continuing, and police are still seeking a fourth man in relation to the incident.
