Three bikies arrested at West Lakes, South Australia

Three members of the Mongols Motorcycle Club have today been charged with criminal association following reports of a disturbance at West Lakes.

The legislation makes it an offence for Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) members from Declared Criminal Organisations to associate in groups of three or more in public. The Mongols are one of the 10 Declared Criminal Organisations under the legislation.

Police allege the three men were involved in a heated discussion this morning with a fourth man. The three men charged are:

  • A 27-year-old from West Lakes who is charged with two counts of being present with more than two Criminal Organisation participants
  • A 23-year-old from Para Hill who is charged with one count of being present with more than two Criminal Organisation participants
  • A 32-year-old from Western Australia who is charged with one count of being present with more than two Criminal Organisation participants and one count of unlawful possession

All three men have been refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

SA Police believe that this has been very successful legislation in terms of disrupting Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMCGs) and their unlawful business, which is a positive outcome in terms of public safety.

This legislation has had a significant impact on OMCG members in terms of their ability to meet, interact and plan their activities.
