Three charged, one remains under police guard after Sydney CBD brawl, NSW

Three men have been charged after a brawl in the Sydney CBD this morning.

About 12.30am (Monday 1 April 2019), emergency services were called to George Street, near Park Street, Sydney, following reports of a brawl.

Police have been told two men – aged 21 and 23 – while crossing paths with another two men – aged 22 and 25 – became involved in an argument, resulting in a physical altercation.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command, with assistance from Kings Cross Police Area Command were notified and attended the scene.

The 21-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for lacerations to his face, before he and the 25-year-old man were arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station.

Two other men, aged 22 and 23, were taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, where the younger man remains under police guard, being treated for serious head injuries.

The older man has since been released from hospital after being treated for lacerations to his chest, and taken to Day Street Police Station.

The 21-year-old man has been charged with affray, and recklessly inflict grievous bodily harm after it’s alleged he punched the 22-year-old man in the head, knocking him to the ground and causing head injuries.

The 25-year-old has been charged with affray, and reckless wounding after it’s alleged he slashed at the men with a box-cutter.

The 23-year-old has been charged with affray.

All three have been refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Monday 1 April 2019).
