Greensborough Highway Patrol officers were kept busy overnight after catching three speedsters in separate incidents across Melbourne’s north.
Officers first observed a blue sedan allegedly travelling at 129km/h in a 60km zone on Bell Street, Preston about 1.25am on 5 January.
The 36-year-old driver from Tullamarine had their vehicle impounded for 30 days at a cost of $884 and is expected to front court with speeding charges.
Shortly after, officers were patrolling the Metropolitan Ring Road in Thomastown when they observed a silver sedan travelling at 124km/h in a 100km zone about 1.45am.
Police intercepted the 20-year-old driver and established their vehicle was unregistered and not displaying P-plates.
The Bundoora woman was issued with three infringement notices at a total cost of $1454.
Officers were shocked when they detected a blue Volkswagen sedan allegedly travelling 23km/h over the speed limit on the Metropolitan Ring Road about 2.10am.
The driver, a 37-year-old Hoppers Crossing woman, then allegedly returned a positive drug test.
She is expected to be charged on summons with a number of traffic offences.
