Toowoomba selected to host Meatstock 2022

Australia’s biggest music and barbecue festival, Meatstock, is heading to Queensland for the first time this April, with Toowoomba the proud host of the mouth-watering event.

Toowoomba Regional Council Mayor Paul Antonio was thrilled Toowoomba had been selected as the host for the event which is expected to attract up to 10,000 visitors to the Region.

“It’s been a tough couple of years for our local tourism industry so to be able to host an event of this nature, will be a huge boost for our Region,” Mayor Antonio said.

“It’s estimated the event will inject about $3.3 million to the local economy.

“With people expected to travel here from interstate, we expect to see to see an influx of business for our local accommodation providers and hospitality venues.

“Toowoomba is the only regional city on the tour, with the other locations being Sydney and Melbourne, so it’s a big success to be selected as the host for this event.

“Sponsoring the event is not only a fantastic way to showcase the Toowoomba Region, but a great opportunity to support local businesses who’ve had a challenging few years.

“Supporting our local tourism industry is just one of the ways we’re delivering on our Toowoomba Region Economic Development Strategy.

“While this is a particularly big event for Toowoomba, we’re always looking for opportunities to invest in our Region and our people.

“Council also runs event support grant programs twice a year to help local not-for-profit organisations with their events.”
