Tour of Tasmania rolls out on high

Roger Jaensch, Liberal Member for Braddon

The Rockliff Liberal Government is delivering on its long-term plan to sustainably grow visitation, boost the economy and create jobs.

Liberal Member for Braddon, Minister Roger Jaensch joined Tour of Tasmania organisers on Sunday for the final stage of the race.

“The Tour of Tasmania is one of Australia’s oldest and most prestigious national road cycling tour events,” Minister Jaensch said.

“Our Government is a proud supporter of the Tour of Tasmania, investing $400,000 to support its delivery over three years.”

The event takes place over five days, with about 150 rides, 150 support staff and 50 event officials travelling to Tasmania for the Tour.

“Competitors and crews have been treated to some of our State’s most picturesque places as they’ve battled through the Tour’s stages,” Minister Jaensch said.

“From the Tamar Valley to the Bluff, this means hundreds of extra people eating in our restaurants and staying in our accommodation venues.”

The Rockliff Liberal Government is strategically investing in regional events to encourage visitation beyond our cities.

“We know Tasmania is a popular destination for visitors seeking to explore our unique experiences, our rugged natural environment, and our unique food and beverage scene,” Minister Jaensch said.

“In the North West and West, we have incredible events such as the Unconformity Festival, Burnie Ten and the Devonport Triathlon.

“Our Government will continue to sustainably grow our events sector to help grow our economy and support jobs.”
