Townsville City Council is getting the party started ahead of Pink’s Summer Carnival concerts with Townsville Beats, a musician trail from The Strand to Central Park.
Local musicians will be performing and entertaining visitors on the walk from the iconic beach front location to Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 March.
More than 80,000 people are expected to be in the city over the two nights the international pop star is performing in Townsville.
Local artists like Steve Sparrow, Josie, Comfort Royale, Hoopnosis, Melaleuca Strings and Sneaky Beats will perform along the Townsville Beats trail.
Sneaky Beats singer, guitarist and songwriter Luan Krasniqi said he was excited to be getting people pumped ahead of Pink’s performances.
“I jumped at the chance to be involved in the musician trail and to get people excited to see Pink,” Mr Krasniqi said.
“It’s not every day an international standard signature event like this comes to Townsville, and this won’t be your average stroll to the stadium.
“It’s going to be a super lineup of Townsville’s best local musicians and musical groups to get people ready for a night of unforgettable pop glory.”
A Townsville City Council spokesperson said Townsville Beats was the perfect warm up act to the concert and has encouraged concert goers to take part in it.
“Parking in the city is free on Thursday (21 March), Friday (22 March) and Saturday (23 March),” they said.
“On concert days it’s a great opportunity to park the car and walk along the Townsville Beats trail to listen to some of the city’s best musical acts to get ready for Pink.
“More than 40,000 visitors from outside of Townsville are expected to come to the region and experience what it has to offer.
“While here they can experience The Strand, soak in the natural beauty of Magnetic Island, go to the top of the iconic Castle Hill, dive at the Great Barrier Reef and much more.
“There is something for everybody as our region prides itself on being an inclusive environment through infrastructure like our accessible pathways and amenities.”
Queensland Country Bank Stadium General Manager Tom Kimball said they want everyone to have an enjoyable night when Pink comes to perform.
“There’s heaps of information, including transport, on the Queensland Country Bank Stadium website to help you plan ahead,” Mr Kimball said.
“There’s going to be a free park and ride shuttle service from Lou Litster Park and free bus service in parts of the city so there’s plenty of options to ensure you arrive nice and early for the show.”
Pink’s Summer Carnival tour is in Townsville on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 March at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
