Townsville City Council is delivering service excellence with the introduction of six additional building application types to its same day approvals service.
The addition means homeowners, builders and building certifiers will be able to lodge an application and have it approved on the same day, simplifying the process for the Townsville community.
A Council spokesperson said Townsville is the first council in Queensland to implement same day approvals.
“Same day approvals are a unique offering from Townsville City Council, putting us in the right position to grow Townsville,” they said.
“we have an officer available on our Customer Service Counter who can assess and approve applications on the day they’re lodged, reducing the turnaround from 10 days to less than 24 hours.
“This service is an advantage to our homeowners and builders seeking to construct houses and other residential structures. Our commitment to our customers means we are also leading the service journey ahead of other Queensland councils.”
The six additional application types that are eligible for same day approvals are:
- Reduced Front Setback for Dwellings
- Shade Sails within Front Setback
- Property Site Cover up to 60 per cent
- Building/Structure Eaves within Setbacks
- Screens, Fences, Walls, and Retaining Walls up to 2.2m in Height
- Residential Structures within Side Setbacks
