Trio charged after Point Cook armed robbery

Westgate Wayward Taskforce detectives have charged three teenagers following an alleged armed robbery that occurred in Point Cook earlier this week.

A 19-year-old Altona Meadows man was arrested on Wednesday and has been charged with:

• Armed robbery;

• Intentionally cause injury;

• Recklessly cause injury;

• Assault with weapon;

• Obtain property by deception;

• Possess controlled weapon; and

• Unlicenced driving.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 14 February 2022.

A 19-year-old Point Cook man and a 15-year-old Hoppers Crossing girl were arrested yesterday in relation to the incident.

The Point Cook man was charged with:

• Armed robbery;

• Intentionally cause injury;

• Recklessly cause injury;

• Assault with weapon;

• Obtain property by deception; and

• Possess controlled weapon

He was remanded and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

The Hoppers Crossing girl was charged with:

• Armed robbery;

• Intentionally cause injury;

• Recklessly cause injury;

• Assault with weapon;

• Obtain property by deception; and

• Possess controlled weapon

She was bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

Search warrants were executed at properties in Point Cook, Hoppers Crossing, Altona Meadows and Seabrook this week as part of the investigation.

The charges come after a 20-year-old Elsternwick man was allegedly assaulted and robbed after the males threatened the victim with a machete and a hammer on Kingsley Avenue about 3.40pm on Monday.

His wallet and watch were stolen during the incident and the man sustained a serious injury to his hand which required treatment.

A fourth person has been identified and detectives are continuing the investigation.
