Trio charged with assault emergency worker at Bendigo

Police have charged three men after two police officers were allegedly assaulted outside a licensed premises in Bendigo last night.

Local police were patrolling along View Street about 10.30pm and attempted to arrest a 28-year-old man for drunk.

The Kangaroo Flat man resisted arrest and allegedly assaulted a male Constable.

OC spray was deployed however the man allegedly continued to assault the police officer.

A female Constable was then allegedly assaulted by the same man.

Another police unit attended outside the licensed premises and assisted with the arrest of the man and two other men, one aged 28 and the other aged 26.

The three men, from Kangaroo Flat, were all charged with assault emergency worker and affray.

The trio has been bailed to appear at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on 15 May 2020.

The two police members suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for observation.
