Truck driver busted in Airport West

The State Highway Patrol caught a truck driver for drug driving in Airport West this afternoon.

Police intercepted a large tipper truck on the Western Ring Road at about 12.30pm and gave the driver a roadside drug test.

The driver, a 44-year-old Drummond man returned a positive drug test and is expected to be charged on summons.

This intercept is a part of the Operation Argus, which focuses on impaired driving, motorcycles, excessive speed, driver distraction and not wearing seatbelts.

The state-wide operation will run for four days from 12.01am, Thursday 5 September to 11.59pm, Sunday 8 September.
