A truck driver has been charged after a motorcycle rider was seriously injured following a crash in Sydney’s Inner West yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Parramatta Road, Concord, just before 2.30pm (Monday 22 August 2022), following reports of a crash.
A Volvo tipper truck and trailer was travelling west when it collided with a Honda motorcycle travelling the opposite direction at the intersection of the M4.
The rider, an 18-year-old man, was treated by paramedics for life threatening injuries and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
Officers from Burwood Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.
The truck driver, a 60-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
He was escorted to Merrylands Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, and negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm).
The Merrylands man was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 20 September 2022.
