Try Trade underway this week

Kempsey Shire Council

The first intake of Kempsey Shire Council's Try a Trade

Kempsey Shire Council’s first intake of Try a Trade started on Monday 22 November with five ladies ready to pursue careers in male-dominated industries.

Following completing their Statement of Attainment in Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card), Zella, Cherray, Stacey, Chelsea and Cherish began a week of work experience with Council’s outdoor staff. Some of the teams the women are working with include water and sewer, parks and gardens, maintenance and boiler making.

One of the means by which Council is working to increase the diversity in our workforce is by encouraging more women to apply for trade roles.

Try a Trade is a Civil and Construction short course designed for women, delivered by TAFE NSW in partnership with Council
