Visitors to Nitmiluk National Park canenjoy the newly refurbished Visitor Centre as part of the Territory LaborGovernments $10 million investment into tourism infrastructure at the majesticNitmiluk Gorge.
Enhancingthe visitor experience, the upgrades include a new, modern kitchen and freshbathroom facilities which incorporate design elements that resonate with thelandscape and tell the story of the Park and the Jawoyn people.
Withstage one now complete, stage two has commenced which includes aninterpretative display, visitor orientation information and the Welcome toCountry experience at the Centre due for completion in early 2020.
Theiconic Park is jointly managed with the Jawoyn people and this project is employinglocal contractors and being coordinated in close consultation with the NitmilukBoard of Management.
Visitorswill now have earlier access to the Park after the Wet Season as this infrastructureinvestment has delivered upgrades to the first gorge cross-over Wet Season path,a new Katherine River crossing and an upgraded 17 Mile Valley track to supportNitmiluk Tours new Biddlecombe Cascades glamping experience.
Thetender to construct a new jetty in the gorge was awarded in early July and willbe completed by the Wet Season.

NitmilukNational Park attracts around 270,000 visitors a year, with the Visitor Centrea major hub for travellers starting their journey through the Park.
This investment will improve the visitorexperience and continue to drive economic activity and create local jobs forthe region. It also complements the Territory Labor Government’s $5.5 million TurbochargingTourism stimulus investment into the Park.
