Turning bright ideas into reality to make Liverpool a better place

26 November 2019

Anyone with an idea to make Liverpool a better place can visit the Centre for Civic Innovation at Northumberland Arcade for help to make it happen.

The Centre for Civic Innovation is aimed at empowering people to make a difference in their community.

Community engagement specialist Amelia Loye is running the pilot program, which is the first of its kind in Australia, until December 12 and is looking for residents to participate.

“We are looking for people who want to do something for Liverpool,” Ms Loye said.

“It may be someone who has an idea for a charity or a social enterprise and is keen to learn how to register, find grants and fundraise. It might be someone who has a business idea that will help the community.

“We can help them maximise their social impact and help them make their entity sustainable.”

Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller invited the community to take advantage of this pilot.

“One of the most wonderful things about my time on Council is that it affords me the opportunity to meet so many passionate people working to make Liverpool a better place,” Mayor Waller said.

“This project is aimed at supporting them in that work.”

The Centre for Civic Innovation is running as part of the Liverpool Pop Up program, which gives entrepreneurs and small businesses a chance to test their ideas in one of Liverpool’s Pop Up shops.

The centre is at Shop 10, Northumberland Street Arcade, Northumberland Street and is open from Tuesdays to Fridays until December 12.
