Two arrested in relation to Ringwood East home invasion last year

Eastern Region Crime Squad detectives have arrested and charged two men in relation to a Ringwood East home invasion on 15 June 2022.

Police allege that at least three offenders forced entry into a Ringwood East home, before assaulting a 50-year-old male victim in a case of mistaken identity.

Detectives understand the intended target was an unrelated local man involved with drugs.

As a result, the victim was left with serious injuries, including fractures to the skull and ribs, a broken arm, loss of vision to his left eye, as well as bruising and swelling to his face and body.

Police also understand that the offenders stole a safe containing the victim’s personal documents, mobile phone and wallet before leaving the address.

Following an extensive investigation which has been aided by several crucial pieces of information received from the public, detectives executed a search warrant at a residential address in Kilsyth on Monday which led to the arrests of two men including:

• A 21-year-old Box Hill man was charged with aggravated home invasion with a firearm, home invasion, cause serious injury intentionally in circumstances of gross violence and theft. He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on 14 August 2023.

• An 18-year-old Kilsyth man was charged with trafficking drug of dependence and commit indictable offence on bail. He was bailed to appear at Ringwood Magistrates Court on 16 August 2023.
