Two people have been charged following an alleged police pursuit in the Southern Tablelands earlier this week, in which a police car was allegedly rammed.
About 2.30pm on Tuesday (7 July 2026), police attended a property on Gorhams Road, Crookwell, to arrest a 36-year-old man wanted over eleven offences, including an alleged police pursuit, stealing and property offences.
Officers attached to The Hume Police District located the man on a tractor on the property.
Police will allege the man attempted to hit the police car with the tractor twice, before leaving the property in a white Ford Ranger.
Additional officers responded to the scene and attempted to stop the utility on Gorhams Road, Crookwell.
When he failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated on Kialla Road, Crookwell.
The rear of the police car was allegedly rammed by the utility.
A short time later, the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.
Investigations commenced into the whereabouts of the man
Following extensive inquiries, about 6.40pm yesterday ( Thursday 9 July 2026), officers attached to The Hume Police District, Monaro Police District, Region Enforcement Squad, Camden Police Area Command, Traffic and Highway Patrol and NSW Dog Unit attended a motel in Tahmoor.
When the 36-year-old allegedly refused to open the door, officers forced entry and deployed a taser to effect his arrest.
A 30-year-old woman – known to the man – was also arrested.
They were both taken to Narellan Police Station.
The man was taken to Campbelltown Hospital as precaution, before being taken back to Narellan Police station where three outstanding warrants were executed for 17 offences;
– Use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention (three counts)
– Predatory driving
– Use class A vehicle displaying misleading etc number-plate
– Not give particulars to other driver
– Use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road
– Use uninsured motor vehicle on road
– Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (two counts)
– Possess prohibited drug
– Larceny value greater than $15000
– Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not m/v)
– Refuse or fail to provide oral fluid sample
– Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
– Class A motor vehicle exceed speed greater than 45 km/h
He was refused bail to appear in Bail Division Court 3 today ( Friday 10 July 2026).
The 30-year-old woman was charged with predatory driving.
She was granted conditional bail to appear in Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday 26 August 2026.
