Two charged; illicit drugs and cash seized, NSW

Two men will appear in court over alleged drug supply offences after police executed two search warrants in south-west Sydney earlier today.

Last year, Strike Force Polar was established by officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command, as part of Operation Trident, to investigate ongoing drug manufacture and supply offences, as well as mid-level organised crime in the local area.

About 7am today (Friday 15 October 2021), Strike Force Polar investigators, with assistance from South West Metropolitan Operation Support Group, executed two search warrants at homes at Georges Hall and Riverwood.

During the search at Georges Hall, police seized 2L of liquid GBL (gamma butyrolactone), 100g of cocaine, 30g of methylamphetamine (ice), mobile phones and more than $2,000 cash.

At the Riverwood home, police seized more than 1kg of cannabis and more than $41,000 in cash.

All items will undergo further examination.

Two men were arrested during the operation and taken to Bankstown Police Station.

A 34-year-old Georges Hall man was charged with 13 offences including:

  • supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis (x4),
  • supply prohibited drug,
  • supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity),
  • possess prohibited drug (x3),
  • supply prohibited drug (x2),
  • recklessly deal with proceeds of crime, and,
  • goods suspected stolen in/on premises.

A 30-year-old Riverwood man was charged with 9 offences including:

  • cultivate prohibited drug,
  • supply prohibited drug (indictable and commercial quantity) (x2),
  • possess prohibited drug (x3),
  • supply prohibited drug,
  • recklessly deal with proceeds of crime, and,
  • goods suspected of being stolen in/on premises

Both men were refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Saturday 16 October 2021).
