As the increased cost of living hits hard, the Salvation Army is determined to make the upcoming festive season as bright as possible for local families through its annual Christmas appeal.
For the 20th consecutive year, Logan City Council employees have enthusiastically supported the spirit of the season by donating toys, toiletries, books, clothing and food.
CEO Darren Scott praised the generosity of Council staff.
“It’s heart-warming to give back to the Logan community,” Mr Scott said.
“We know many people are struggling to make ends meet at the moment, so ‘thank God for the Salvos’ and the work they do in Logan and around the country.”
Logan Salvation Army Captain Anthony Hunt has seen an increased number of people requesting assistance for the first time.
“Over the past 12 months we have had more than 1000 unique presentations for support at our Logan Central service alone,” Mr Hunt said.
“Many people are also experiencing homelessness for the first time because of increased rental and cost-of-living pressures.”
Donations to the Christmas Appeal are welcomed and can be made by phoning 0481 128 036. Local Salvos stores can also accept limited non-perishable food donations.
