Two men arrested after police assaulted – Mount Druitt

Two men have been arrested after a police officer and a NSW Transport staff member were assaulted today.

About 8.30am today (Thursday 29 February 2024), two officers attached to Police Transport Command, had stopped two men on the platform at Mount Druitt Railway Station for travelling without a valid train ticket.

Police will allege the men – both aged 33 – became aggressive towards the officers whilst speaking to one of them about not having a train ticket and requested the man to produce a valid ticket.

It is alleged the men engaged in an altercation with police and one of the female constables was pushed to the ground before she struck her head. A 58-year-old NSW Transport staff member attempting to assist police was also allegedly assaulted by the men.

The 58-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for injuries to his eye and arm.

Further police attended and the two men were arrested and taken to Mount Druitt Police Station.

The injured officer was conveyed to Westmead Hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not considered life threatening.
