Detectives from Taskforce Hawk have today charged two CFMEU officials as part of an investigation into a report of a data breach involving a former CFMEU member and subsequent sharing of personal information and photographs.
A search warrant was executed at 6am this morning at a residential address in St Albans Park.
A 37-year-old St Albans Park man has been charged with five counts of distribute intimate image.
He has been bailed to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 21 January, 2027.
A 46-year-old Westbury man was then taken into custody and has also been charged with five counts of distribute intimate image.
He was bailed to appear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on 11 January, 2027.
A mobile phone was seized from the St Albans address.
Specialist detectives from the Cybercrime Squad have been investigating the matter alongside Taskforce Hawk.
The matter was reported to police on 25 June and the information being distributed is alleged to include intimate images.
A 39-year-old Taylor Lakes man was previously arrested by the Cybercrime Squad on 8 September but released pending further enquiries.
Police also seized a number of items from his address including a mobile phone, two conducted energy devices and knuckledusters.
A 33-year-old Pascoe Vale man was charged by Hawk on 9 September with distribute intimate image.
He was bailed to appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 14 January.
Investigators will continue to thoroughly assess any information provided to them on the incident and urge anyone with information on this matter to come forward.
