Two shops targeted in Whyalla break-ins, South Australia

Police are investigating a ram raid and a break-in at Whyalla early this morning.

At about 2.45am, Thursday 24 December, police were called to a business on McDouall Stuart Avenue after reports a car had driven into a shop. The white Nissan reversed into the shopfront causing significant damage. CCTV shows two men entering the shop stealing cash.

About an hour later just before 3.45am, police responded to an alarm activation at a liquor shop on Essington Lewis Avenue. Patrols quickly attended and found damage to the front doors and alcohol taken. The damage was not caused by a car.

A review of CCTV indicates the same offenders are responsible for both break-ins. Both men had their faces covered.

The vehicle involved in the ram raid is believed to be a white Nissan with black rims and a white rear spoiler and was not bearing a rear number plate. The vehicle is likely to have rear end damage from being reversed into the shop.

Police are continuing their investigation and are seeking the assistance of the public regarding the identity of these offenders.
