Two wanted men charged after extradition from Darwin

Two men, wanted by virtue of outstanding arrest warrants, have been extradited back to NSW and charged with serious violent offences.

The two men – aged 34 and 36 – were wanted by virtue of outstanding NSW arrest warrants for robbery in company, participate in criminal group and other serious offences.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad have been conducting inquiries into their whereabouts.

Following extensive inquiries, officers from the Northern Territory Police Tactical Response Group arrested the two men near Darwin last Friday (1 September 2023).

Detectives travelled to the Northern Territory on Monday (4 September), where they applied for and were granted the men’s extradition to NSW.

The pair were escorted from Darwin to Sydney, arriving about 6.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 September 2023), where they were taken to Mascot Police Station.

The outstanding arrest warrants were executed and both men were also charged with five additional offences each, including possess unauthorised pistol, and acquire pistol subject to firearms prohibition order.

They were refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court today (Thursday 7 September 2023).
