UA Higher Education Awards open

Entries are now open for the 2023 Universities Australia Higher Education Media Awards.

The awards, run in partnership with the National Press Club of Australia, recognise quality journalism on key issues in higher education, including the economic and social benefits Australia’s universities make to the nation, government, industry, not-for-profit sector, and the community.

“Our universities play a vital role in helping Australia grow and prosper,” Universities Australia Chief Executive Catriona Jackson said.

“They undertake the research and development that drives social progress and educate the skilled workers that spur our economy. This benefits all Australians, whether you go to university or not.

“Each year we celebrate exceptional reporting that shines a light on the vast contributions our universities make to the nation, helping inform community understanding and building support for our institutions.

“The awards are also an opportunity to recognise compelling storytelling that has highlighted the power of university research in tackling the toughest challenges facing Australia and generating the breakthroughs that transform communities each and every day.”

Submissions for the 2023 awards close 26 July 2023.

Media professionals are invited to submit entries in one or both award categories – journalist of the year and excellence in research reporting.

Award winners will receive $12,500 and $2,500, respectively.

Entry criteria and guidelines are available on the National Press Club of Australia website.
